Carry-On Baggage

1 piece, 8kg max, per person is permitted on board, free of charge, on all routes and classes. 

Dimension: 50 X 40 X 20 cm.

Checked Baggage

Fantasticket & Easy fares: do not include a checked baggage. Hold baggage is available CHF 35/ EUR 28 per piece max 23 Kg.

Essential fare: you are allowed to carry 1 piece per person, 23kg max.

Everything fare: you are allowed to carry 2 pieces per person, 32kg max each.

On all Geneva - Lugano and Lugano - Geneva flights you are allowed to carry 1 piece (23kg max) per person which is included in the fare price. Should you decide to purchase a Premium Economy ticket on this route, you are then entitled to carry 2 pieces (32kg max, each) per person.

Liquids on board

According to the new rules and regulations only bottles, jars and tubes of no more than 100ml of liquid gel or toothpaste etc. can be carried in a plastic transparent bag, in the hand luggage. 

The bag must be shown separately to the security staff and the secuirty check. Other liquides can only be carried in the checked-in luggage. For technical safetly reasons they must not be over 2 litres in content. 

Since Januray 2014: 

All items purchased in Duty-Free must remain sealed inside the security bag provided at the time of purchase. 

Other regulations

During the security controls, passengers will be asked to remove their jackets/coats and put their computers and other large electronic devices through the scanners separately. 

For safety reasons passengers are not permitted to carry certain items, such as;

  1. Guns, firearms and other instruments that are capable of causing serious injury by shooting:
    • Any kind of firearms, guns, revolvers, rifles and shotguns
    • Toy weapons, reproduction and imitation of firearms that can be mistaken for real weapons
    • Components of firearms, excluding telescopic sights of fitting. 
    • Air gun or carbon dioxide weapons, such as, pellet guns, rifles and ball bearing guns
    • Rocket launcher, staarted pistols
    • Bows, crossbows and arrows 
    • Harpoon and spear guns 
    • Slings and catapults
  2. Stun devices - specifically to stun or immobilize:
    • Neutralizing devices such as stun guns, paralyze gun and electric shock batons
    • Tools to stun and suppress animals
    • Chemicals, gases and spray substances causing disabling or incapacitating effects, as a spray, tear gas, acids and repellents for animals
  3. Sharply pointed or edged objects:
    • Edged weapons: axes, hatchets and cleavers
    • Ice axes and ice picks
    • Razor blades
    • Cutters
    • Knives, no matter the length of the blade
    • Scissors
    • Martial arts equipment with a sharp point or sharp edge
    • Swords and sabers
  4. Working tools:
    • Crowbars
    • Drilling and related points, including wireless mobile electric drills
    • Tools with blades longer than 6 cm or tips that can be used as weapons, as screwdrivers and chisels
    • Saws, including mobile wireless electric saws
    • Welders
    • Gun with darts and nail guns
  5. Blunt instruments:
    • Baseball and softball bats
    • Clubs and sticks as billy clubs and blackjacks
    • Martial arts equipments
  6. Explosives, incendiary devices and substances:
    • Ammunition
    • Detonators, primers and fuses
    • Replication or imitation explosive devices
    • Mines, grenades and other explosive military stores
    • Fireworks and other pyrotechnic articles
    • Smoke canisters and cartridges
    • Dynamite, gunpowder and plastic explosives

Prohibited items in the carry-on baggage

Substances, explosive devices and incendiary capable or appearing capable of being used to cause serious injury or to threaten the safety of the aircraft, including:

  • Ammunition
  • Detonators, primers and fuses
  • Mines, grenades and other explosive military stores
  • Fireworks and other pyrotechnic articles
  • Smoke canisters and cartridges
  • Dynamite, gunpowder and plastic explosives

Security at the airport will confiscate any object considered dangerous. Etihad Regional is not responsible for the confiscated items. The above dispositions also apply to objects purchased at the airport.
